Hi, Hello! My name is Sarah - the writer behind redgregory.com.
Firstly, Who Uses Notion?
Notion is generally divided into the following users:
Note-takers and students 📓
- The category of users who love toggles and rely on Notion to archive a lot of pages, categorize, tag, and organize ideas. As well, use task management to keep track of a deadline-heavy daily schedule.
Task management for personal and/or team use 👯
- The classic use for Notion, task management is aided by the plethora of database views from Calendar for scheduling to Kanban for delegation and task progress to Gallery for creative thinking. The only program that holds a light to Notion's task management is AirTable.
Life operating system users 🏡
- Notion pros like August Bradley have turned Notion into a place that you can't live without. The addictive nature of Notion starts here. Transfer all your work/home life into separate databases, make connections, track progress, communicate with co-workers, and even use it as a shopping list or workout planner.
Bullet-journalers ✓
- The bullet-journal community have made use of the sleek UI, customizable features and flexible databases. Other productivity programs do not have the same foundation for such diverse users in this regard.
Web development (portfolios, landing pages, communities, and more) 👁️
- The web development crowd is just emerging thanks to super and the like. Web dev with Notion isn't perfect (pretty slow loading time), but is promising for the future of the program.
Personally, I'm more of a note-taker, but have made a lot of life operating pages as of late. Out of these uses, I find team management and note-taking to be the most powerful aspects. Personal task management is quick powerful as well.
Programs that can be alternatives to Notion →
The all-in-one productivity app is unique. The best way I've heard it described is as the "swiss army knife" of software. And so, programs that can challenge Notion's parts are many, but the programs that challenge the sum of Notion's parts are few. Let's talk about both.
