Hi, Hello! My name is Sarah - the writer behind redgregory.com.
How I built the clipper → Web Scrape News Articles With notion-py Into A Notion Database
I’ve had an urge to automate with Notion-py for a while, and with a few days free, I finally made the first steps to figuring out what I can do with the API. My first instinct was to build a better web clipper. I wanted to create a clipper that populates the body and properties of a database page. As a news-junkie, clipping news articles seemed both intriguing and easy enough to figure out. The ease of this project is due to most of my properties being text values.
- Notion-py is exactly what I expected it to be and easy enough to understand, however, I wish documentation were more robust.
- From what I understand so far, I am only able to toggle a select property that is already created. I would like to create a new select option from py.
- I'm far too deep into Notion and with the addition of notion-py, I have fallen down a database abyss.
- All of this is getting me itchy for Notion API.
I'm looking into a genealogy transfer into Notion. My immediate limitation is the visualization of a kinship tree that is ordinarily webbed or tree-shaped. However, I can get creative with board view to get around this (something like this tiered approach Relational Tiers). I may even use notion-py to speed up the process. More on this later in the week (thinking about making a video on it over on YouTube).
I'm planning to track my mood through the entire year in order to better understand what is making my poor days poor and what I need to do to fix them - hence, the "cause" property.
😀I would classify this week as HAPPY. 😀
- BEST DAY: Monday, June 15th
- WORST DAY: Wednesday, June 17th
- I’m now far too deep into Notion and I feel Notion-py has put me over the edge into a database abyss ... but I’m not complaining
- All of this makes me wish Notion’s API come quicker, but don’t we all wish this?
I will be using Notion to communicate with a client this week
I’m currently in the midst of a freelancing gig for logo design and I figured I might as well use Notion to send my files and mockups over the web. I’m thinking of inviting the client into the page and allowing him to comment in the page and download files to examine. Here’s how I’m going to set up the page:
