Hi, Hello! My name is Sarah - the writer behind redgregory.com.
Productivity: What I Learned This Month
The months of October and September have been a slow one for productivity and personal health. And yes, they do correlate. I find that weeks I do not eat well or exercise regularly, my productivity suffers. This is just one lesson learned of many these days. Here are more:
Mood/To-Do List
- Do not plan a timetable for more than one day ahead → doesn't leave room for flexibility and is overwhelming to follow.
- Make time to set up a workspace in a quiet environment → locations are changing constantly for me, so finding the quiet space wherever I am is key.
- Deadlines don't need to be met if quality suffers as a result → case and point, this newsletter is a day late.
- Make habits fun not necessary → when habits become tiresome, it's time for a change.
- Clear anxieties that clutter the front of the mind before working → meditate
- Do not push them to the back , rather put them on pause and deal with them later via healthy strategies.
- Turn off phone/do not check it until work is complete → if using pomodoro, check only during breaks.
- With that being said, turn off notifications to all socials and news on desktop → this is extremely distracting.
Content Creation
- Break ideas into smaller bits → a.k.a create more content from one idea.
- Get creative and have more fun → relax!
- No more viewing analytics so much!
My Brief Two Cents About Stats & Growth
A portion of my happiness depends too much on the uploads(x) to growth(y) ratio. If growth decreases I assume that the quantity of content decreases in tandem. Here lies the issue, and where the classic saying "quality over quantity" comes in.
If less content that is of high quality are uploaded, analytics will not increase necessarily ... but will not suffer either. As for increasing growth, I've found that a good balance of quality long form content and frequent small bite-sized content is key.
- On the web readers are looking for quick answers to their questions.
- On YouTube, viewers are looking for a good balance between mid to long-form videos.
You can see how I'm thinking too much (lol). In the past week I decided to step back from analytics and "go with the flow." It worked on all fronts, mentally and for my analytics (all upward trends).
I once believed that life should be treated like a business, in fact I said these words in a previous newsletter. I'm changing my tone on this. Of course, life should not be treated like a business, but should one's personal social media that has direct or indirect monetary consequences be treated like a business? Is this healthy? Maybe I'll answer this open-ended question in a future essay.
😂 With that being said, here's a graphic I made for my analytics cover page in Notion.
Analytic Graphic
I'm working on a bundle for download of Notion graphics and icons. Here's a sneak peak of the style I'm going for →
