Hi, Hello! My name is Sarah - the writer behind redgregory.com.
The Backfire Of Systems-Nerdery
The following is me identifying the functionary fault of my project systems, essentially, lack of a bird's eye view on a particular goal or reality that my system is operating within → results in tunnel-vision and malfunctioning.
- I've been all over the place with programs recently, using Notion, Roam, dabbling in TiddlyWiki, Anki, even trying to program my own systems, and I'm exhausted. I've never been less productive than this past week. → a system is no better than its parts
- And it really opened my eyes to the notion (pun intended) that large systems don't work. I'm a single person working on two projects, one of which is this website (redgregory). The other is a personal project (hopefully something that will generate income eventually) that I still haven't idealized fully, yet, I dive into it with a fully-loaded system that runs on an imaginary fuel.
- For those struggling with "systems fatigue," remember that the original goal you have in mind may not require a system at all — maybe down the line but not now.
- Notion is great. It's pretty obvious I feel this way. I need to compile and organize my Notion hub in a way that doesn't require a whole lot of upkeep - a place to dump ideas and run.
- Roam was a good tool for this, however, it isn't the most reliable (and $15/month soon), and I only used it for concept-mapping, of which is absolutely doable in Notion - albeit with a mild workaround and proficiency in relational linking. → essay on this eventually
- Why do my systems work poorly? → I'm going from fixing the problem to fixing the problem and inevitable shortcomings of the system.
- Solution? → a large yet low-maintenance system in Notion for absolutely every action performed in the program.
Interestingly, I've been able to keep up with personal tracking systems (ie. mood, anxiety, sleep trackers) in Notion just fine. You know, it's only the systems that require the most attention that gets neglected.
I'm Building A Blog In Notion (Coming Soon) + In Fact, I Want To Build A Lot Of Things With The Help Of Notion
It will be both a blog and a showcase of how Notion can be used as a concept-mapping (ie. bi-lateral linking) tool. I want to beef it up a bit first.

My Mood Last Week
I'm planning to track my mood through the entire year in order to better understand what is making my poor days poor and what I need to do to fix them - hence, the "cause" property.
I would classify this week as a HAPPY.
- BEST DAY: Thursday, May 7th
- WORST DAY: Wednesday, May 6th
